Re: [FWDLK] 1958 DeSoto Firefllite 2drht with special trim

  Jim,

Are you sure this isn’t a Firesweep ?

The 350 was not available in anything but the ‘Sweep.  Torqueflite was standard equipment on the
Fireflite and I *believe* the Powerflite unavailable (?)

On the other points, the sweep insert trim was part of a Spring Special trim group.  The package
included this side sweep insert, vertical ribs on the decklid, and stainless rocker mouldings.  It may
have also included the roof mouldings, but these were available before the Spring Special package
was offered.  Also of note, each of the parts of the package were available individually and it is un-
common to find all three on the same car.

Value would vary, based on what model it is, and how original the car is.  Fireflite coupes are very
rare and there is a lot more demand for them than the Dodge-based Firesweep.  Regardless, a black
coupe with Spring Special trim would be a real sexy car in any series and sure to command good
money.

I am interested in hearing from any one that might have knowledge of the value of the subject car, This one has only 69k miles , has a a Powerflite trans and PS . Its black and has the special trim package that Includes the aluminum trim insert between the moldings on the side and the extra stainless on the roof and around the rear window
The 350cid engine runs but need attention. Trans seems fine. The black paint is origional except on the front clip.
It has been stored in a garage since '79. A little rust in the quarters behind the rear wheels, but not bad.
I bought the car and will restore it. But I would like to know what it is worth now and what it might be worth when given a real good amature restoration
including  interior,engine, paint ,chrome etc.
I  finished a '60 Firelite 2drht that took first place in class at Carlisle in 4years ago. This 58 is in better shape to start with than the 60 was.
Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks   Jim Ruckdasahel
