Re: {Chrysler 300} 1962 Astradome Electrical

hi all his lights are on , no problem with blades on gauges .all work
He has somehow not  gotten the white AC power wire to main face of speedo , the “numbers “ EL panel .( jump to other white wire in there or? factory harness not on right? )
Maybe you have a dash  out ? i forget where it is

To avoid confusion the extra EL blade is on the Amp gauge, for 61-62.  It’s on the oil gauge for 1960.

Matt,

Looks like the gauge with the extra EL blade is the Amp gauge.

Hi Matt did anyone write you back?
Speedometers usually have a wire that goes through the back of the housing and has a red plastic terminal that plugs into the gauge (oil I think) with the extra blade for EL lights… I can double check that…

Someone else can chime in about the high pitched hum at the switch but my guess is that is somewhat common.  Maybe the switch could use a little cleaning or a shot of DeOxit5.

Also don’t forget your ground wire!  In fact install an extra as John Grady has suggested in the past.

Reinstalled my fixed up Astradome, Gauges & Speedometer.
All is working A-OK, except….

All illuminates bright & lovely except the Speedometer face itself.
Even the Odometer lights up.
Maybe I missed one of the white wires with red end that plugs in underneath somewhere?

There is an audible whine.
Sounds like it is coming from the headlight switch.
When I turn its rheostat to the brightest position, it whines.
When I turn the rheostat to the dimmest position, the whine goes away.
I need to change out the Headlight Switch?
Or is that an indication of the Astradome Power Pack?
(Though it really does sound like it comes from the Headlight Switch versus under the Kick Panel / Power Pack location)

Thanks!
