Just make sure that the compressor clutch itself is fully disengaged and not
dragging. Also, leave clutch coil disconnected. If there is contamination on
the clutch surfaces the clutch can drag enough to cause the compressor to
turn in the situation where the system is low on refrigerant. Warped clutch
plates can cause the compressor to turn also but some turning should do no
damage to the compressor but a dragging clutch will eventually make noise
and probably do damage to the clutch plate surfaces.

The bearing in the compressor clutch can be serviced (replaced) and is
life-time sealed and is not lubricated with compressor oil. It is a good
husky bearing and is at least a very good belt idler pulley bearing (with or
without the A/C system being charged and working).
