Re: [Chrysler300] Letter Car Prices

Pete,

I am sorry you feel that way....I just put nearly 6K into the car (including the paint which is excellent)...and that does not include the work that I have just today approved for the correction of the remaining chrome in the motor. There IS no dent on the door (either side) and there is a slight dimple on the roof that I only noticed upon outbound shipping inspection earlier today (My immediate suspicion was that something happened in A/C because the dimple was not there on inbound delivery). I have no idea what you are referring to regarding the 'serrations' on the grill. Maybe a judge would, but the hundreds of people I talked to while they looked at the car (including many fellow club members) had no concerns about the grill. Many commented about the chip in the paint which I clearly mentioned in my last post.

I spent the bulk of my time with the car.....my phone number was on the car for the duration of the event. I wish you had called it, I would have liked to have met you, you might have been able to teach me some things about these cars.

I am a disheartened that you would imply that I would mislead the club in your broadcast note without first giving me the courtesy of a phone call or private email. Quite the contrary, I have refused to sell parts from one of my cars to two other club members for two reasons; 1) I have not personally seen the parts and I would not take the risk of creating any ill will with a club member, and 2) I did not want to discuss price until I had a better understanding of the protocol with regard to treating fellow club members. Until now, I was beginning to feel I understood that protocol. The club members in question are John Hortag and a gentleman in CA who owns one of the remaining seven stick cars.

Lastly, I am running a concours this summer that I am relying on fellow club members to participate in to make a success...We are celebrating the letter cars this year and this celebration will not be a success without participation from members. Again, I would not open myself or my event to any type of questions over a $42,000 car!

Again, the car is for sale....$42,000. I stand by my representation of the car. If you would like to come inspect the car and take it for a drive, I welcome it. I may place the car on Ebay for $49,000 if no club member comes forward first. If it does not sell, I will have it in BJ in April.

I can be reached personally at 860-883-3998 if you have any further questions about the condition of the car.

Regards,

John

Only thing the car really needs is the completion of the chrome removal in
the engine. I did some work on the interior, the paint has been totally cleaned
up....there is one tiny chip on the trunk remaining.
John:

With all due respect, your car needs a bit more than that. I am only
saying this because we are talking to club members here, and I wouldn't want
anyone to be misled. I would not say any of this to a stranger on the floor at
Atlantic City (and I didn't). There is a dent in the roof of your car, and
another on the driver's door. Your paint still needs serious work, and the
interior has to be replaced, at least if you want anything close to a show car. I
would also suggest that you try to refit your grille, or do something to
remove what appear to be a number ot serrations along the inside of the rim along
the upper edge of the grille, which are evident even with the hood down. I
could only see what was what from the outide of the car at AC. I looked for you
for three days, and you were nowhere to be found.

I wish you luck with the car, but I think you should face reality when it
comes to what needs to be done with it, if you want to sell it for anything
close to $50,000.00.
