Re: [Chrysler300] brake line replacment

Jonathan and all,

I've gotten in on this late, but feel there is something else to be added. During the past year of so I've converted two of our cars to front disc brakes. They are a 1960 Chrysler 300F and recently a 1957 300C. The adapter kits came form AAJ Brakes and all other parts are as directed by the info provided with those adapters.

Both kits use exactly the same items, but in doing the 300C it was noticed that with the stock rubber hoses from the brake line to the caliper they tightened to much when the suspension was fully extended. I had steel braded brake hoses made 2" longer to eliminate this problem.

Once installed I can't tell you how much better the 300C stops that the 300F simply with that one difference. Also the pedal feels like a modern car. Both cars retain the stock single master cylinder and no other changes have been made. Recently my wife Christie drove the 300C about 120 miles to an event and was amazed at the difference.

Any future replacement of hoses will be nothing but steel braded for our cars.

But before I do, was wondering if anyone had a preference for stainless steel vs. original. I plan to hang on to the car for a while, so I'm thinking stainless will look better longer. But of course stainless is harder to seal. Any insight?
