Hi John;
Get a set of California Turbos. That is a style name, I think,  several 
different mfgs. make them. About the same size and shape of the 
originals, with a nice mellow deep tone. They will bark on hard 
acceleration or de-cel, not too loud tho. Nice purr on the highway. On 
my Hurst, they go quiet at 82, that's when you are outrunning the deep 
note. That's also my alarm if I'm dozing and Mrs. Leadfoot is driving.

All in all, a nice combination of performance and tone. No sense in 
having a performance car if it don't sound like one!
