[Chrysler300] Engine and trans removal

I am about 3 years later on doing this engine
rebuild, but the color of the oil dictated I could not
put it off any longer. I have everything unbolted and
ready to pull the engine and trans
Should I pull the engine trans as a unit or separate
them and remove the trans part first.
If I go the latter based on your feedback, what is
necessary to get the trans separated *old cast iron
unit with separate bell housing)

The car is on a hoist and I have a engine hoist. I do
not have a trans jack,so since that trans weighhs a
ton I prefer to pull as a unit.

What are the cautions and do's and don'ts?
