RE: [Chrysler300] 55 bumper jack

Hi, John:

The jack in your C-300 is significantly different from mine. Perhaps others
can help us define what a proper C-300 jack looks like and how it might be
identified.

Mine:
Base: Rectangular-6 1/8" x 8 1/8" slightly dished-stamped cup welded to base
with trapezoidal hole for vertical jacking bar. Stamped U69 above small
rectangular hole in toe of base.
Jacking Bar: 35" long, slightly trapezoidal-fits nicely in its place above
RR fender well.
Mechanism: Stamped UN and UP with an "UP" arrow between the U and the P.
Hook: Removable from mechanism, stamped with a crude Pentastar, 2931101 and
93153
All this suggests it is a newer jack.

The previous owner/restorer refinished the jack base and mechanism nicely in
battleship gray and our judges think it should be black. I could use a
decent and proper retention spring as my shiny ACE hardware replacement
works, but is not correct.

Interesting that there are jacking instruction trunk stickers for '55 De
Sotos, but not Chryslers.

I'm trying to identifie the bumper jack in my c-300. The base is eight ins.
square with the corners bent over. The hole in the base is triangular but
not 'T' shape. The jacking bar is 30 1/2" long and sorta 'V' shaped. There
are distorted round push marks holding the jacking mechanism from falling
off either end. On the jack it says "up" "down" and "uni" and nothing
else. There are no other marks. Thanks for the help, John and Nancy Peabody,
Pittsburgh Pa.
