Hi Ray,
As I mentioned earlier, I have had the pleasure of meeting Bob on a number of his "Chryslers on the Murray" visits down under. I know Bob also has a few other claims to fame, like the Chrysler Atlantic Show car, amongst a great many others, including the development of the unique "Australian" Charger, Hardtops, Sedans & Wagons of 1971 thru to 1977, all powered with 318's,, 340's 360's & the powerful 6 cylinder Hemi 6 pack!
Check out http://www.aussiecoupes.com/charger.html & http://www.aussiecoupes.com/vf-vg-vh-vj-cl.html
Despite his most humble demeanour Bob was the father of our special and unique Charger which was a huge success in OZ, NZ, SA, UK & Asia.
Not many are aware outside of Australia, the fantastic Auto manufacturing car industry that has thrived Down Under since WWI, with the big three US makers, but in a most independent way. Although a number of our models are different sheet metal to anything in the US, they follow the tradition large rear wheel drive sedans and coupes with 6 & 8 cylinder power being the preference.
To this day GMH general Motors-Holden, builds large V8 rear wheel drive sedans that are exported around the world as Chevrolet Caprices, and Impalas, which are not available in the US on this platform, but our 2 door Holden Monaro and 4 door commodore are sold as the GTO & G8 in the US. The Monaro 2 door v8 has a history dating back to the Australian muscle car era of the late 60's. Ford also still build the Falcon & Fairlaine in OZ
Check out www.hsv.com.au & www.fpv.com.au for some current real OZ muscle...check out our utes or small pickups with Vette power!

Hi Sean;
What a pleasure to get this email!
Bob and I grew up together. Elementary and Hi school pals. Prowled the
neighbourhood together and have many fond memories. I have his
autographs with pencil drawings in my elem. school Autograph book and
later, he did pencil and colored pencil drawings of several of my
custom cars. Highly prized!
2 1/2 years ago, we met up at our 50th High School Reunion, great times.
What you may not know is his name is on the patent of the Chrysler
Corp. Mini-Van along with 2 others. He lead or was a key part of the
design team of this revolutionary new kind of car. (It saved Chrysler's
butt, too!) He won't mention it, too modest. He does wonderful sport
car racing paintings which he sells worldwide.
Congratulations on your great showing and thanks for the memories;
Ray Jones in Mena
All right folks, time's awasting! This Meet will be a good'un, don't
miss it! Registrations are your anxious hands now, so lets get those
Meet Registrations in soon, give poor Gloria a break and don't wait
'til the last few days. It's getting time for y'all to be polishing up
your rides for the Spring Meet!
"It's the fellowship that makes it a special event." Be there, or be
Square! RAY

Hello to all our fellow Letter car fans.
Just a short note to let all my buddies know that both our B & D made
the "Top 10" at our premier Chrysler Event Down Under recently.
This was a team effort between the Morgan boys, my younger Brother
Stuart, My Father Gordon, who has recently recovered well from a
serious stroke, and myself, so this was an important mission for us to
accomplish together. 3 years in the making and a car show debut for
these cars. We also had a great deal of support from our Wives and
younger kids!!
The Show was "Chryslers on the Murray" (River) in Albury-Wodonga, a
border twin town between the States of New South Wales & Victoria.
Many previous years has seen a number of US guests including regular
visits from Bob Hubbach, who you might know as a senior Chrysler
stylist and who worked on Viper GTS, & Current 300C. He also styled a
number of unique Big Australian Mopars that you may or may not have
ever seen. Bob is also an accomplished artist who also paints cars of
course. I have some of his wonderful signed prints.
Over 600 really nice Mopars attended this year, so this effort was not
so bad!
The best thing is the cars didn't miss a beat, over 700 miles in
convoy! Even the Air Conditioning in the D (totally Mopar from 1958)
kept us cool all the way.
We also took out best 1945-1960 Mopar with the D........This was a
new, bigger year range prize category and a lot of nice post war cars
to compete against.
A special thanks again to all those who have helped along the way, too
many to mention, but you know who you are!!
Thanks again gang....Now I can relax a little at the next show.
Best Regards
Sean
300B & D
P.S. Some of you guys have got to head down under to the next Murray
meet to check out some of our "Special" OZ Muscle Mopars!!
