Did I miss seeing anyone mentioning headlight relays?   I've been adding headlight relays to my cars for the last forty years to take the load off the original light switches and to give full battery power to the lamps.  And believe me it does.   I buy them from John Lazenby at very reasonable cost.  Most simple classic fix one can do to dull headlamps.
