[Chrysler300] replacing original 300 bits with non stock items

Marshall offers one of the most underestimated pieces of advice re restoring/using old cars/300s - namely, at the least, always keep any original part if putting a non genuine replacement on. It is now around 50 years since many 300s were built. You may not care if you put something unoriginal on, but trust me, facts are a bit thin on the ground re us/people living forever??!

So near as sure as things like 'prices always go up, get dearer', someone sometime in the future may appreciate having original parts that might be put back on. Plus Chrysler was engineering driven, usually put pretty good stuff on their 300s, which balancing out later better inventions versus the often highly limited use 300s get nowadays, still liklely means original is not so bad a deal to live with??!

Christopher Australia - great mid 70s New Years weather over SE of nation, north east outback and coastal under near record flood, while over west, bad fire risk, soon to head to east part of south of country - over 100 degree days tipped here for end of week - gas prices just went up 20c a gal - soon near as bad a gallon, as buying a copy of NYTimes !!?

For future reference, never replace your original alternator, generator,
or starter unless they are physically destroyed. The primary reason is
that it fits your car and is hopefully the original piece.

Find a REPUTABLE (someone rebuilt your "six month unit") re builder in
your area, a place where you can carry them into and watch while they
test the unit. Many times there is no problem with it so the problem is
elsewhere. Good to know before you start throwing expensive parts at it.

The bearings in the alternator on my G were noisy so I took it in. It
produced 60 amps as is. The rotor had already been replaced with a
higher capacity version so I had them put in the corresponding stator.
It now produces 90 amps. New bearings, brushes, pulley, stator, and
labor was $84.

I use:
