Re: [Chrysler300] 1962 Chrysler 300h @ Mecum

Hi to all,

The 300-K was purported to be verified by the Club but had a front to back
carb set up, not specific to the year, on a 440.

Was a bit disappointed regarding the lack of knowledge by the Mecum people.

Obviously, the bidders had better knowledge and bid accordingly.

My opinion is that if it had been more true to the 4 bbl. or crossram ³K²
set up that it originally was, it would have brought much more money.

BTW, sad to see someone selling a short crossram ³K² but is retaining the
crossram, carbs and exhaust set up. Ted¹s Tuna Boats! He will throw in a
parts car though.

A 64 K car brought $16+K earlier, prior to that H auction.I heard that the H
was coming up but the announcer wasn't sure if the car would be aired. They
said the K had a 440-4v, and it had after market wheels. I don't know if the
engine was a 440 or if the fellow mis-spoke because I didn't see it.but even
if the car was considered for its mis-matched engine and wheels..that's a
great buy, and the announcer indicated that as well. I think the economy
has really affected this market but as we all know, like real estate,
they're not making any more of these. The only issue is to be sure that
younger people learn and understand what these vehicles are and what they
have come to mean. This is a good time to buy, definitely not the time to
sell. A lot of the cars on Mecum were going for less than one would have
expected.

A beautiful Black 1962 Chrysler 300H sold last night at the Mecum Auction in
Kissemmee for $ 19,000,00. It was listed as a southern California car.
Looking at what some of the other cars sold for 55 Metropolitan sold for $
17,500.00, how do you figure that. On EBay, nice 62 Sport 300's they can
hardly give them away. I must rethink my plans for my 62's.
