According to the article, it's not the same thing.  In fact the article
states that knock off hubs are left hand thread on the pass side, and RHT on
the driver's side.  This is opposite on our Chrysler products where the nuts
are in a star pattern, not on the center of the hub, and have RHT on the
pass side, LHT on the driver side..

My one-time, real-life test of the theory failed. A Camaro with Corvette
knock-off hubs, left and right threads of course, and installed properly.
Lost the nut (and wheel) at 80 mph towing a sailboat down the x-way.

Chrysler Corp used left hand thread on pretty much all of their vehicles
from the '30s to 1970. The reason for this was safety. If you do a Google
search on the topic, it reveals that tests proved if lug nuts were not
tightened, in other words, a mechanic just finger tightened the lugs, the
counter rotating force on the driver's side of the car would loosen the
nuts, whereby the right side (pass) nuts would not loosen or actually
tighten a bit. So, it was a safety in engineering thing. Evidently, there
were some GM cars that also had left hand threads in the '50s for the same
reason. Probably what happened in 1970 was that Chrysler decided it was
time for them to conform to the rest of the industry and go with RH threads
on all 4 wheels to make it easier for tire installers. Once the RH nuts are
properly tightened, they are safe.

I went yesterday to have new wheels and tires installed on my G. To my
surprise, I was informed that one side of the car has left handed studs.
Anyone else experience this? In the mean time I guess I will use factory
wheels and caps, so does anyone know where I can buy the wide white walls.
Bought some from Coker a coupla years ago that were sloppily made. thanks
for any and all leads. Travis
