[Chrysler300] re tires, etc for 300 cars

I've been reading this tread re tires, etc for our chrysler 300 letter cars. I find it rather weird that some members that although their collectors cars are now worth rather big bucks compared to when they acquired them years ago, they are not willing to spend the appropriate amount of $'s to make sure that they are as road worthy as possible. As far as I'm concerned, safety really comes into play with all this. My opinion on choice of tires is to get what is the best tire to do the job and forgot this nonsense as to whether is has wide white wall or narrow sidewall. When I had my 65 300L ht restored about 15 years ago, I was not able to find proper 14 inch tires for it plus the availability of factory hub caps was next to nil(the factory ones are not really nice looking to start with) plus the price for really nice ones was prohibitive so I converted to 15 inch wheels using the magnum 500's with the spinner options. Most people on the street will not remember as to whether these cars had wide whitewalls tires, etc so why are we wasting lost of money in trying to make to 100 % factory. Now let's remember that this is a hobby so let's quit worrying about using crappy bias ply tires as what these came with from the factory. I will always make sure that I have excellent tires, brakes and suspension on any of my vehicles. One cannot put a price on safety. I hope that I haven't offended any of you purists but this is my two cents worth. Cheers from Fern with 300H convertible and 300L ht and still to restore 300L 4 speed conv.
