This is a very good idea even if your u-bolts look AOK. My suggestion would be to take one u-bolt with you to the largest auto parts supplier you can find. This would not be an Auto Zone or other mass merchandiser necessarily. A real parts house with a real counter person. 

U-bolts and nuts are readily available by the way. Not a by application item. You need high nuts also. There are kits shown in the Dorman line with nuts.  

Probably will have to shorten the legs. Use Never Seez on the threads.& tighten evenly up to book spec. They are stretchy. This way, the nuts will come off cleanly if you happen to ever need to take them off again. Seated properly and torqued up evenly and you will have no problem. Should recheck torque after a test drive.Not something that should be left loose or not evenly torqued..
