RE: [Chrysler300] 1962 Leaf Spring U-Bolts & Nuts

Hi Matt,
In addition to what Warren Anderson said, there should be several spring
manufactures in the Long Beach / LA area where you can get the U-Bolts. Here
in Portland we have two places:

www.benzspring.com/

http://www.spring-man.com/
   Oregon Spring Company

Matt,

This is a very good idea even if your u-bolts look AOK. My suggestion would
be to take one u-bolt with you to the largest auto parts supplier you can
find. This would not be an Auto Zone or other mass merchandiser necessarily.
A real parts house with a real counter person.

U-bolts and nuts are readily available by the way. Not a by application
item. You need high nuts also. There are kits shown in the Dorman line with
nuts.

Probably will have to shorten the legs. Use Never Seez on the threads.&
tighten evenly up to book spec. They are stretchy. This way, the nuts will
come off cleanly if you happen to ever need to take them off again. Seated
properly and torqued up evenly and you will have no problem. Should recheck
torque after a test drive. Not something that should be left loose or not
evenly torqued..
