RE: [Chrysler300] 413 in a 63 Chrysler Pace Setter Convertible

John, Sam and all:

In 1963 the 413 V-8 360 horse ("HP") engine was optional on all sport series
Chrysler 300s for $162, and while I am not an expert on the Pace Setters, I
believe that this same engine was available on the Pace Setters as well.
There is one on currently on ebay in Louisiana with the 413 that looks
original.

The turquoise color was actually called "Pace Car Blue" and the interior
color was Alabaster (off-white). One factory black convertible is what I
understand as well. 1861 convertibles and 306 hardtops were built. Pace
setters were also distinguished by small checkered flags under the 300
emblem, and a special pacesetter emblem located on the center console below
the lock.

The actual pace car(s) used at the 1963 Indy 500 also used 15-inch wheels
with 300J wheel covers.

Sam,

The Pace Setters came only with the 383 V-8 engine. There were 1861
convertibles and slightly over 300 hard tops produced. All but one of the
converts were Turquoise. The other was black from the factory. Today there
are at least ten known surviving black ones all of them claiming to be 'the
one' from the factory.

Hi,

Do any of you know if 63 Chrysler Pace Setter convertibles came from the
factory with 413s and what carburation they came with? Most of what I have
seen are 383 2-barrel cars. Also, other than a turquoise and white color
scheme, what else identifies them as pace setter convertibles?

Thanks,
