RE: [Chrysler300] 300L Retrofitting Headrests and Seatbelts?

Our '64 came from the factory with captive nuts welded to the bottom of the
floor plan and filled with rubber plugs waiting for easy installation by the
selling dealer-for the front seat only. These were up on the vertical parts
of the sills and driveshaft tunnel. The rear seat belts required drilling
new holes and using the big fender washers to reinforce the mounting
locations for the rear belts.

Our car came with leather seats and a right-hand headrest only. Perhaps
because the RH seat tilted back nearly flat and the headrest would provide
support while napping. Head rest options were RHS, both or neither. I'd
like to add a driver's side headrest just for symmetry and a little
protection against whiplash on smokey burnouts. I have not torn the seats
apart yet for reupholstering, but would be interested in what you find
regarding adding a headrest to an existing bucket seat.

I do need that RHS headrest for a '64K, suitable for restoration if anyone
has a spare.

Subject: [Chrysler300] 300L Retrofitting Headrests and Seatbelts?

Hi All,
We're really excited about driving our L convertible, but the car doesn't
have seat belts or headrests. I'm assuming the former can be easily
retrofitted onto the car, but am curious if/how OEM headrests can be added?
(Or do I need to buy '65 seats that have them already?)

Appreciate any tips on how to add seat belts as well as headrests to the L
convt. I'm sure many in this group have already tackled these two issues in
the past and look forward to tapping your expertise.

Many thanks,

David A. Morrison

PS - If anyone has 1965 OEM seat belts or headrest-optioned seats they don't
need I would be glad to discuss a possible purchase with you! Please send a
private message to TorqueChap@xxxxxxxxx <mailto:TorqueChap%40yahoo.com> .
