RE: [Chrysler300] My 300 F laid down!

Dave, I would rebuild the original F heads and add hardened exhaust seats and Upgrade to the 1.74" diameter exhaust valve. If you no longer have the heads, I would do the same to the 67 440 Heads number 915. My next would be the 68-70 B engine heads, number 906. The 452 heads Latest B engine, already have induction hardened seats. I just have no love for the last head listed slow flow and no compression. I have run them all, and rebuilt them, modified, flow tested and raced. Rick Post script. In the 1980's I installed heavily modified 1960 Chrysler heads on a 383 B engine, and Our driver Don Krueger won the Sportsman championship. Colorado national speedway's half mile track. The engine survived several more owners and even more races.

On the way home from St. Louis it developed big time oil consumption and
smoking! This engine has been together for 35,00 miles since 1985
w/mileages in the 14-15MPG range with an occasional 16 MP run since the
carbs were rebuilt last year by Jim McGowan.

Very low compression on #'s 3 & 4, compressions from 120 to 150 on the rest
and some oil fouling on #8 but still ran strong!! Go figure.

Not good news! Initial tear down revealed not good views either.

#4 has a badly burnt intake valve, but most of the rest, but for #8, look
quite normal (I believe) with light brown to nearly white combustion
chambers and plug tips

Oh yes, Jerry and my son are pressing me to ditch the 915 heads (maybe
that's why it always ran so good??) in favor of 452's or 906's

What say you guys??

So, I'm in the market for an overhaul gasket set for one thing and was
wondering if you guys had any preference as to what brand to get, also as to
price and quality.

Hope to have the engine out, disassembled and at the machine shop on Monday.

Film at eleven...no..wait...)(**(%&*Y#&%) we can't do that here!!!

So..., Missy and I will probably be bringing my Laramie Longhorn to Carlisle
this year.

I can bring a few parts if anyone is interested in a Rad splash pan for a 65
and a new re-pro windshield for a 61-64 shaded and tinted
