Re: [Chrysler300] Fall Meet ln Mystic

Hi Al (and everyone)

I had a similar experience on the way home. In fact, Al, you almost had some guests! Our G quit on I-80 around mile 185 in PA. As I was rolling to the side, it fired, then quit again. Had fuel. Checked points for spark, had spark. One set of points was closed so I reset it. It fired for a moment and quit. Then no spark. Had power to coil and both sides of ballast resistor. So, I swapped the coil. It fired right up and ran fine all the way home. Also, I was noticing an occasional miss under load on the way out. That is gone. Point being, apparently a coil can fail intermittently. Incidentally, it was the original coil.

Thanks to Don and Pat for a fun meet!
Andy

Hello Everyone,

I also would like to state how much I enjoyed the meet and the attendees-- thanks again to the Coles.  In addition, I would like to relate a problem that occurred on the way back to PA.  I was on I-691 happily rolling along early Sunday morning when my J just stopped running.  I coasted off on an exit, checked under the hood but saw nothing obviously wrong, and after sitting for 3-4 minutes it started and I drove all the way home until I got a mile from my home and the same thing happened.  Again, after sitting for 3-4 minutes it started and I got home.  Two days later after 4-5 minutes driving to my mechanic's shop the same thing happened.  At the shop they found a very loose wire to the distributor and thought that was the trouble, but on the way home the same event happened again.  Turning on the electrical fuel pump has no effect.  While it's stalled, I'm getting gas from the accelerator jets but it still won't start until further sitting.  It acts like an intermittent electrical problem, but I don't know exactly where to start looking.  Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Al Vannice

All,

We had a great time at the Mystic meet. And I thank all the club members who assisted or observed as all the little issues with our 300K were resolved. The return trip to Boone NC was without serious incident.

Mick
