RE: [Chrysler300] seat belt installation

John,

I installed rear seat belts in my 300H. With the rear seats removed, you will see obvious dimples in the floor pans. The outboard ones are low and may be hard to find. The inboard ones are higher up, kinda above the tunnel. If you imagine the tunnel as a clock, the dimples would be at 10:00 and 2:00. They should be easy to spot unless there’s a lot of surface rust. When you bolt down the belts, on the outside, use rubber washers under the fender washers to prevent rust and leaks. Be sure to treat the exposed steel with primer or paint, and try to stay away from silicone sealant, as it will accelerate corrosion of untreated steel.

Happy Moparing,

Mark

Hello Group,

I will be installing seat belts in the rear of my 300F. The front already had seat belts, probably done by a dealer. They are bolted to the floor with big fender washers on the back like others of the day. I need to be able to mount a child seat in the back seat. I was going to do this about 7 years ago for my daughter(who is now 8), but never got to it. Now we have a 2 1/2 year old and it's time to roll to some meets! There looks to be a likely spot to drill a hole just outboard of the unibody rail in the corner of the rear floor. It could be there or just perpendicular to that in the place where the floor pan turns upwards. That would take care of one side of the seat belt mounting- the other side looks more obvious and could simply be a hole that ends up just by the corner of the mufflers, about an inch from the driveshaft tunnel. Has anyone ever done this who may have some advice?... I'm just a little reticent to drill holes in my original car without a little assurance that I'm not going to ruin my floor pan.

Thanks,

John Kuegel
