If your comment was addressed to me I guess I'd be a "Stickler".  I strongly believe in getting the facts and stating them correctly.  

Back in the day there were numerous manufactures that used this style of filter.  The ones that come to mind are Packard, Chevy, Caddy, DeSoto ('56 only) and I've recently learned that Pontiac also had one.  There are possibly more.  Beyond the neck diameter, height of the snout, location to accept the carbs and finally placement of the pods they are all different.  

In my research I've found that the inners of the pods between 1955 & 1956 Letter Cars are different and you can't mix and match on the two pod pieces.  How do I know this?  When restoring the ones on our C300 & 300B at the same time the discovery came.  Chrysler was the only one that has the four ribs on the top of the housing running fore and aft and usually mounting hardware can be different.  I consider "Batwing" a generic term and these cars are far from generic IMO.

While I'm on this topic I'll share my frustration when I continually see the term Kelsey Hayes used with Chrysler and Imperial wire wheels when the truth is they were made by Motor Rim & Wheel.  All one has to do is look at the stampings on one of wheels when the tire is off.  

There are writers of articles in publication, ads placed for auctions and believe it or not even folks at Chrysler Historical giving out this incorrect info.  The first two I guess to a degree I could understand but not the latter.  I've written "CH" regarding this but never had a reply.  I'd humbly liked to be proved wrong but I just don't think that is the case.

My friend Karl Pippart III is working on a very correct and detailed book on the ECK years of these cars and their predecessors.  I urge you all to step up and purchase a copy when they come out and learn more of these historic cars.   The first two years of Letter Cars have been and are grossly under valued and under rated but the truth is had those two years not been built and raced by the likes of ECK the examples that followed wouldn't matter much.
