RE: [Chrysler300] Heater / Defrost Switch - 1962 300

In addition to Jeff Carter here is another I believe in the classifieds that rebuilds them. Also a company (Old Air ?) sells new switches for this application.

You have checked everything in the system up to the Vacuum switch. This switch is a router, sending vacuum where you want it to do a task.

Now apply vacuum to each hose coming OUT of the switch and see if that works a door. If it does, then all that is left is the switch.

We have a member who rebuilds them, Try Jeff Carter in the Club news, and I seem to remember someone else who had made internal parts for those switches.

Hi Group,

The vents in my 62 as well as the defrost etc. do not work. The electrics work fine. I've tested the vacuum dash pots (3) and they work and hold vacuum and operate the rods correctly when using a vacuum pump. I've tested the vacuum lines for leaks and they all hold vacuum. There is vacuum at the engine and that line is good as well. That leaves the actual dash assembly. All the nipples are in good condition. I was wondering if it is possible that the internals of the plastic mechanism could leak vacuum internally. Has anyone had a similar problem or is there something else I've overlooked. I know that this switch can have the nipples rebuilt, but mine seem OK. If it is the internals of the switch, is it able to be rebuilt? or do I need to source another switch. Thanks, Charlie in Ottawa
