Re: [Chrysler300] Speedometer pinion gear for 300G

Does this sound like a project for the reproduction department? With the advances of digital printing techniques if we had an assortment of the various gears they could be reproduced and made available to all perhaps fairly reasonable. The problem would be to collect the right assortment of gears and then find a source to make them using one of the new computer printing devices. If they can do this on the space station and at Jay Leno's it might work here. Maybe that this is just fantasy, but it is a thought. John...

Yes, the odometer registers the correct mileage. Having checked that and the gear for being the correct one, it left the speedometer needing calibration as the culprit. I have never bothered with it, as I make the adjustment mentally as I drive (and assisted by a radar detector ... lol).

Michael, does your speedometer show the distance travelled correctly against a marked mile? If that is correct, then youâ??re correct that your speedo needs calibration.

My "F" has the proper gear for the rear axle ratio of the car, but reads 12 mph slow at highway speeds. It has been off that far since I obtained the car in 1979. I always attributed it to the speedometer being out of calibration........

As a check of the speedometer I have used a portable GPS readout (hand held). My RAM Charger is on it's third speedometer and reads about 10 mph slow at 55. I'm sure that somewhere I got the wrong cable or gear or something, but for pushing snow it works. What does it read when you're doing 120? ;-)

I'm trying to determine the proper speedometer pinion gear for my 300G.Ã?  My speedo reads lower than it should and I'd like to see if I can improve its accuracy, at 40 mph I'm actually doing about 45.Ã?  I'm running 235/75R15 tires and a 2.93 rear axle.Ã?  Any suggestions on the proper gear? I know they come in different colors to differentiate different ratios.

Thanks!
