When you say converted to R134, what exactly did that entail? If you converted it to R134, the person converting should have replaced the seals when the system was drained and cleaned out of the R12. Or, did the conversion just mean that he drained the R12 out and refilled with R134 directly? Leaving the installation as it was with R12? I'm thinking that is what was done, just a refill of the new Freon. That being said, the new Freon may have damaged more than just the seals. I would check with a reputable shop and find out what really needs to be done to correct your situation. Changing back to R12, is now "Illegal" so a licensed shop should not do it. The other soft parts may also need replacement, not just the seals. Good luck in your investigation.
