I would advise NOT to touch the pushrod. Remember: He's already driven 1000 miles with no problems. If it was the pushrod, problem would have shown up immediately.

I think the rod length spec is given in 64ths. And that the length can be adjusted by loosening a jam nut on a finely threaded rod. If jam nut loosened, the length could change enough to actuate and lock the brakes.

How about the pushrod length adjustment can cause brakes to
drag if it is adjusted to long brakes heat up and lock up.
