[Chrysler300] 62 300 back up light always on

Hello - My name is Nigel Wright - a brand new member.  I have 62 300 sport convertible with automatic, that I am about to get back from 6 months getting painted etc.  Upon assembly, they found that the back up lights were always on, independent of what gear the car was in.  The shop is a little puzzled as to the source of the problem -  is this most likely something in the transmission or in the push button assembly.
