Re: [Chrysler300] ethanol-eaten fuel pumps

Over twenty years ago I bought a high performance mechanical fuel pump from one of the big speed stores name escapes me now. I used to run out of fuel on my K at top end. This pump looks like an original and since then has never failed in giving the K the fuel it needed at full throttle. I like the mechanical pump because it also allows the K to get the oil pressure light to go off after prolong periods of not running. Just my 2 cents.

So what happens if the car stalls out (coil goes bad, etc) ? Will the electric pump still be pumping gas ?

Here’s what I think. Of course, I could be wrong. If the car rolls over, the gas tank would also then be upside down, and the gas would be away from the sump or suction tube inside the tank. Then the pump would be sucking air, not gas. IMO. And if the car is upside down the gas would be pouring out of the filler neck anyway, regardless of having a mechanical pump or electric pump.
