Pretty sure J’s did not have the console-shifted TorqueFlite.  Push-button at left of dash, only, as per attached photo of a supposed 300J.   The console was optional on 1964 300 Sports and the shifter mechanism should be the same.  I’m assuming that when a Sport buyer opted for the console, they also got the floor-shifter.  I recall that the 4-speed 300’s used the J console as it did not have a slot for the shifter and did have the tach.  The 4-speed shifter sprouted out of the floor to the left of the console.

 

It would seem possible that the ‘65’s and up might also use the same assembly.  Pure speculation on my part.
