Thanks for all the info/suggestions on the 1960 steering box question.   A friend with a '60 New Yorker 4 door asked if I had every had one out and how hard it would be to do.  I had no idea so asked the club.  I'll pass along all the information to him.  

I haven't drive the new F enough to know if it needs it.  From the answers you all gave I certainly hope not.

On our '57 my mechanic was able to ease it out and shoehorn it back in without scratching either the engine or the inner fender. His bill totaled $375 all in including the steering column work. It's also possible that the '60 may be a little more work.
