RE: [Chrysler300] 1962 Driveshaft Length(s)

Confirming for 1962, anyway, all New Yorker sedans, hardtops and wagons were built on the 126-inch wheelbase.  All Newport and 300 wagons, hardtops and convertibles were built on the 122-inch wheelbase.  In the factory SERVICE TECHNICAL MANUAL, the 1962 letter car is referred to as the C-300-H.  In 1963, all Chryslers (except Imperials) were built on the 122-inch wheelbase and the 1963 letter car is referred to as the C-300-J.

While you are changing driveshafts, you might consider modifying the new shaft to open configuration.  I believe the letter car (and possibly other heavier models) had stronger driveshafts, U-joints and pinions..

New Yorker wagon is long

Wheel base. 300 sport is

A short wheel base car 122 in.

A Newport wagon was short

Wheel base 122 in. So I would

Think you would have to get a

Drive shaft from a a short wheel base car for your sport.

Newport's would probably all

Work.

I assume that the driveshafts were all made to fit every model Chrysler in 1962; right?

In other words....

- If I were to take my New Yorker Wagon driveshaft...

- Use it as a pattern to have one made for my 300 Sport OR H....

- It would be good to go; right?

Thanks!
