Over the years I have been a 300 owner, I have seen a lot of people swapping
parts and making changes to our 300's. The ones I heard the most was turning
hardtop's to convertibles. In the 1960's and 1970's is when a lot of this
was done. You could  buy 300's very cheap.  Some of the 300 members in
Oregon and Washington made extensive repairs to wreaked coupes by replacing
the metal top and putting one from wreaking yards. Several of the people
doing this are now deceased.  Beware of cars like the C300. They made a good
living by doing this. The  300 Club, Inc. was founded in Portland where I
live and expanded quickly with Chapters in many Cities and States.

OK. So now it's a *prototype*, even though there were almost 200 C300s with
lower VIN numbers. He keeps digging himself deeper into a hold. I wonder if
he knows the truth ?

Here is the latest information, straight from the owner of the advertised
car, answering my question for a copy of the data plate:

  "I own the Chrysler C-300 Convertible. I do not remember seeing a data
plate in that area, I will look for it, also thinking this being a prototype
who knows what is "normal"."

He did give me his phone number if anyone wants to call him.  His name is
Louis D Zurich.  Gloria, he is not listed currently but I don't have lots of
past rosters to see if he was ever listed.

It will be interesting to see how the bidding goes.
