Re: [Chrysler300] Wheel Studs knurl & length size wanted.

Not only turned them the wrong way , but you forget it as you get older . And so one day you snap one. Even knowing better . With long tire iron = oh no .
Used to have a big L on stud if I remember right . Watch for it.
Same with propane nuts. Idiot who did that in the name of safety has killed many people . Almost killed me when narrow neck  of a tee snapped on a full tank , Fed back from second tank with first Valve off . Stupid on my part yes, turning wrong way but if right hand thread like rest of world would not have snapped it off .  I knew that too , but just forgot ... due to busily thinking of screwball wrench sizes you need two of , nothing else works right but big fixed open end, usually box on other end, like a 1/32 or something different .
Also goes to Chrysler fine thread bolts  . Why ? Yes marginally stronger if you do not strip . But you do strip . Aka cross member to frame bolts . Aka exhaust manifold dances , still on new hemi they break , Dakota v6 it is a standard event . Hey guys , at moose , Rust happens . Does not play well with fine threads.
I believe GM never used a single one , let alone Ford crudeness on everything .
Not Called stove bolt for nothing.
Also the tiny screws on the points and the pile of washers and wires . With the one tab spring loaded to pop the screw into infinity . Screws drop into weight space , welcome to three hours more.  I used to look at that delco window distributor with envy , throw points in , open little window set dwell with an Allen while car is running
But in all cases , Chrysler better engineered ( dual points , but extreme frustration , open and close it 8 times) .
Enough , just how it is .
Reminds me at 20 or so , was an X-ray repairman . Oil cooled X-ray tube , overheating . Suspicion of clogged hose , took one off , 1/2” put in pail  . Turn on to see flow . Did not know machine locked on cooling pump for 5 minutes after turn off to cool tube  after use. Immediately shut off oil kept coming , tried to fold hose etc ,1/2 hp gear pump . Pumped 100 gallons of oil onto Floor of mass general hospital ran into corridor, down stair wells , through hole in floor into IBM computer below . No one could stand in corridor .
After that , I’ll take broken stud ..

As a teen working in a full-service station in the ‘50’s, I quickly learned that MoPar meant positive ground and LH threads on the driver’s side.  Nothing like a tongue lashing by the experienced mechanic as I tried to change a tire on the driver’s side of a Chrysler or the big flash when the jumper cables were attached incorrectly.  I’m sure there were competing theories that differentiated the products of the big three but I recall an early belief that the problem was more organizational stubbornness than technical veracity.  Still a lot of that going around as we remain very human.

Smoky and hot Brentwood, CA—but can’t complain as many have it worse.  Human, livestock, pet and wildlife lives continue to be lost as well as massive property damage in the CA fires.  I did see a picture of a burnt-up ’39 Ford in the news and assume other collector cars were lost.  Hoping the insurance companies treat their customers fairly.  Hot temperatures and high winds predicted for today.
