RE: {Chrysler 300} 64 K horn contact ring

Last night about 3AM I too thought that maybe a PO had applied something. Here is a picture of what I am asking about.

If no one has seen this on a 64 or prior steering wheel, please let me know!

Can anyone suggest what material to use to replace the gray bedding material under the horn contact ring on the steering wheel? It was mostly rock hard and brittle, but one portion still had some pliability.

Anyone have a horn switch to sell - #1972 391? I now find mine was bent up.

Also, has anyone been successful converting the turn signal/rear lamps to LED? Which flasher did you use?

The one that they promised would work-doesn’t! Will 1157’s work with the stock flasher OK?
