Re: {Chrysler 300} Urban Legends

The Missouri State Patrol purchased numerous Chrysler Enforcers in the early 60s then again in the early 70s.
Went college there 64-68. One fine day, I was pulled over by a Missouri Trooper. He in a 1963 Chrysler Enforcer and me in my 1961 New Yorker 2door (N Y plates). Not sure what motor had in it. Probably 413.
After military service, I returned to Missouri to grad school and got a job. Became godfather to daughter of old Army buddy. He was a Missouri State Highway Patrolman. He had a 1973 Chrysler Enforcer. Was medium green with matching brocade cloth interior. Was a 440 with very throaty dual exhaust. Air cleaner lid flipped over. Rode with him many times patrolling late at night in rural areas. One night we opened her up. The certified speedometer (120) needle was pushed so far to the right seeming like it went into the glovebox.

I spoke to the owner of one the yards and he spoke almost reverentially of some of the Chryslers that the New Jersey turnpike state police supposedly had as pursuit vehicles at that time in the early’60’s.
