Re: {Chrysler 300} Chrysler 300C Production Numbers

I seem to remember that there was some question about CHASSIS built as opposed to CARS built.   1957 was a busy year and several chassis were dealt out for cars ( such as Dual-Ghias and other Ghia cars) to be built up by custom car builders.  Several were built without engines, hence accounting for strange variation of differences in numbers of engines to numbers of cars. Those were fun times at Chrysler!

I looked up production figures once compiled over 40 years ago by the Inc. club.  They indicate 1,768 hardtops with a footnote that "some records show 1,918 built".  They also indicate 484 convertibles.  I guess this has been in dispute for a long time.

Ok, basic question for all the experts on the Chrysler 300C production figures.  Perhaps determined and concluded years ago, but I noticed the club website indicates 1,767 hardtops built and 484 convertibles.  However, in my search for a 300C hardtop, many owner ads and general reference material out there on various websites appear to indicate 1,918 hardtops, yet the same 484 convertibles.  So how are we showing 151 hardtops less or others are reporting 151 more hardtops?

Thanks in advance,

Darrin
