{Chrysler 300} water pump housing and water pumps

I only test drove the 300K for a short distance on a relatively cool day before I purchased it and trailed it home. Now that I have it apart to go over the air conditioning system…

…I want to check the water pump and thermostat. You know that thermostat that is a PITA to get at under the AC compressor.

One of the issues is that there are several water pumps out there. See the VERY long thread on the Charger forum. (Particularly pages 8 and 9: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,60599.175.html)

What I wanted to know is folk’s experiences with the early 1960’s 413 and water pumps, housings, and thermostats before I just go out and buy a “replacement” part that may or may not be the best match.

I have one of the list recommended fan clutches on order, although I do need to find an 18 inch fan yet.

Thanks, James
