{Chrysler 300} heater control cable 300K

Hi All,

 

Has anyone used a longer heater control cable in a ’63 or 64 ?

 

I have not had good success in shortening longer cables. The eyelets hand done are never very good and I have found that the spring steel used tends to prematurely fail at the root of eye if hand done.

 

I ordered what I thought was NOS by part number from AMS and what I got was a unit 5 inches longer with an insert telling me to cut it to length and wrap the eye.

 

If I can use it as is, that would be preferred. If I had a spring winding tool for my lathe…but even then I do not know if I could get it slow enough for two small wraps of an eye.
