RE: {Chrysler 300} 64 300 valve stems 14" wheel

When I bought my G in 1978, most, if not all, the wheels had metal valve stems.  Over time some had been replaced with standard rubber stems, and I noticed the wheel covers moving on those with rubbers stems.  I replaced all the valve stems with new metal ones from Napa back in 2012 at the last tire change, and have no wheel cover movement.

On the new 14-inch wheels for the 300K, I sanded the powder coat off a little dot in two places at the same location as the stock wheels. I then mixed up some JB Weld and put a dot of it on those locations. After it dried for a day or two, I used a Dremel tool shape them.

These are the factory anti-rotation bumps for the hubcaps We will see how they work once I get the booster back on and take it for a good drive.

Attached photo is a factory wheel and one I made before final paint.

Hi Dan,

I have used masking tape on the rims to stop the wheel covers from moving. It worked very well on our 1964 Galaxy 500 “14 wheels” which has very heavy wheel covers.

Hi,

I had problems with the 15 " wheels on my F.  The wheel covers kept turning.  Bending the tangs to make a tighter fit did not help.  When I converted 15" wheels to accept 14" wheel covers, I decided to spray lots of paint where the tangs meet the wheels so the covers would fit tighter.  Schzaam!!  No more turning of the covers.  Also now I do not worry about losing a cover out on the highway.

Everyone take care and be well.

I just get valve stems from Napa. They have both diameters and various lengths based on what your wheel covers require. I wouldn't use metal ones on a 1964 as the factory wheel covers move around too much, especially if you're using radial tires.

A chilly hello to All,

The original 64 14" rims use the premier 8139  TR 413 valve stem.

The rim hole measured .380"

Who has completed this issue before me?

A lots of TR 413   stems listed, most rim holes larger than .380

Thanks
