Re: {Chrysler 300} Fuel Sending Unit - Pickup

You can buy an inline fuel filter that has an extra hose nipple on the discharge for the purpose of connecting a line to return some fuel to the fuel tank. The one that I have has a restrictive orifice in the discharge nipple so the return flow does not reduce the fuel pressure too much.

Hello,

Has anyone ever drilled the cover plate of the fuel sender to place a bug in it for a return fuel line?  Since I do not have a spare around, I do not know if there is enough room on the back side to fish a return pipe with seals through the thing.

{Ok, why am I asking? Two reasons. First is that a full time electric fuel pump like the old rotary vane carters like cold fuel. I once talked with the Carter Engineers about this, and they gave me instructions on putting a tee at the carb inlet with the one side welded and then drilled to a certain size (I have it in my notes) to allow for cooling. I did this on my 1949 and it helps if stuck in stop and go on hot days. The second is if I decide to go with throttle body EFI, which needs a return to the tank.}

James.
