Re: {Chrysler 300} 1962 Chrysler 300 instrument panel details

Thanks for that information. I would assume it would have been confusing for people on the assembly line to know when or not to put the emblem on the glove box.

Hi Nick, I have owned 3 H’s - first one purchased in 1964. Since the early 2002, I have been showing and restoring H’s. I am convinced that the 300 emblem on the glovebox door is not correct for an H. It was standard on the Sports.
I currently have a highly optioned Sport Conv. The steering wheel center is the same as on an H. The Deluxe Group Package on the Sport included the Padded Steering Wheel which could have included the 300 steering wheel center if it was not standard on the Basic Sports.
Hope this helps,

On your G's, what color is the dash metal and steering wheels? What about the kick panels.

For the record (and I’m not saying this is correct) I have 2 H’s - one without the emblem (I know this car is very correct-just under 36,000 miles) and one with the glovebox emblem.

I also have 2 G’s: one with “300” on the deck lid and one without.

What are the chances? The weighty issues that Mopar collectors face.

My decision is to leave them alone. (I’ll have all 4 at the meet in May for further scrutiny).

I was updating this page on the club web site concerning the differences in instrument panels from 1960-62.

I want to update the first section to cover the colors and emblems. I know that the 1960-61 300 use a "Chrysler" emblem on the glove box, and that emblem is only used on the 300s. On the 1962, most 300H cars I've seen don't have an emblem on the glove box but 300 Sports have a 300 emblem there. But I have seen some 300Hs with the 300 emblem. Is that because owners have put them on, or just production inconsistencies?

What do 1962 300 Sports have for the steering wheel center? Do they use the same "300" one as the 300H or a standard Chrysler one?

On 300Gs, do they consistently have the same steering wheel center? Most I've seen had the same one as used on the 300F, with red on the top and blue on the bottom. But I've seen a few with the 1962 style with the red, white and blue in segments around the "300"

Thanks for any insight.
