Re: {Chrysler 300} 15" Wheels

Use a set of these 15" wheel covers.

I made my own 15" rims that fit the beautiful 14" 300F hubcaps...the whole thing was done before...it's in the tech pages...I used 80's Dodge Diplomat 15" rims(15x7, I believe). I got some cheap 14" ford donor rims, and cut the outer edge off about 1" down into the rim before hitting the welded center with a jigsaw(drilled blade access holes first)...used a lot of blades, but it wasn't that bad. I then ground the donor edges to as even as I could get by eye and feel w/ a 4" grinder...then ground in a series of drainage cuts evenly. The next step was mig welding these into the 15" rims. I am not a great welder, but managed with flux core wire. It was not as difficult as I was expecting. If something felt and/or looked unsymmetrical anywhere, I would grind it until it was better. You can, and should trust your eyes and your hands to get symmetry on whatever you are working on, unless, of course you have a milling machine. When I was done(I made 5- of these), I took my new tires to the tire place and had them  mounted and balanced . They balanced easily with minimal added weights...and I was very happily surprised to see this! ...thought it would be hard to balance, but it was easy. The grinder was my friend and my eyes didn't let me down.
This was about 19 years ago...they are still holding the caps tightly.

Hello everyone I am just starting this adventure.I purchased the car in November 22 but have been working on an old Wills Jeep.  I have a few questions if you kind folks will bear with me. I have started on my 1963 300. It presently has the original 14" wheels and tires from pre 1984. I would like to go up to 15" wheels for more selection and options on tires and possibly disc brakes at some point. I assume the 14" hub caps will not fit the 15" wheels. Does anyone know a good source for the factory steel wheels and hub caps? I just hate to buy 14" tires knowing I want to go to 15" in the future,I think it would be better to bite the bullet and do it first. Any value in the 14" wheels and hub caps for resale? Any thoughts?
Thanks in Advance
