Re: {Chrysler 300} 55 window motors

hi all , depends if loaded or not and how much load. 10 A by ammeter is great , 22 might be a bind but still working hard to overcome it . trying on bench may be only a few amps
It is a current draw , not out put as Dannie says .
So volts times amps is watts ( power) so we have 60 watts or  132 watts .
750 watts is one horsepower . So like 1/10  hp, 75?watts) or twice that . The extra watts  shows  up as heat in rubbing . . Chrysler probably meant to mean no more than 22 or you have a bind or motor problem .
Breaker is set at 25 I think .
what goes wrong with our motors almost always involves brushes , brush holders and bearings getting corroded due to water . I have never seen windings burned up or needing rewinding , but damaged or pitted mirror like shaft bearing surfaces are like impossible to fix but may still be ok , very intermittent use , very light grease and no oil or grease near brushes .
I drill 060 hole in housing back cover at low place as mounted to let any water  out
Brushes stuck due to corrosion is common , just free up
remember power is to only one  nut at a time  and to motor metal , not to two nuts
Use a valve stem seal or rubber washers glued to output shaft with weatherstrip cement as a rain shedder . Critical if points up

Window motors won’t “put out” current so much as they draw current. What sort of test was run? Was an ammeter placed in series with the motor while it was operated? Motors will draw X while in motion and Y when stalled and power applied. If you have motors that go up and down nicely while sucking only 10 AMPS I’d be more than happy with that.  I’m sure John Grady will have more to say and from a better platform than I.

Subject: {Chrysler 300} 55 window motors

I had my 6V window motors checked this morning to see how many amps they were putting out-----the newly rebuilt ones were around 9 or so the NOS ones were at  9 or 10--------book say's they should be at 22 to 26 or so depending on body style--------does it seem odd that all 4 of these motors were basically putting out the same amps  ?--------can anyone out there chaeck these for me-----I will pay you for your trouble------THANKS--------Johnnie
