   OK, Dave , thanks, that sounds like a fairly durable fix until i can
   find a good board.   
   As to your question about how the gauges could be working if
   thelimiter wasnt finding ground is   "Theyre not"  . All the gauges
   on the dash are dead, only the alt gauge works, and thats really
   wonky at best. It looks  like the alt gauge isnt grounded thru the
   circuit board, doesnt current just flow thru it on the way to
   battery?
