Take a cheap flat blade screwdriver and bend the end around to make a hook
you can grab the seal with. Then use a prybar to pull on the handle of the
tool you made, using the flange on the housing as your fulcrum.

I don't have the fancy factory slide tool shown in the Factory Service
Manual (FSM) to remove the axle shaft inner oil seal
on a 8.75 tapered rear. The slide puller I have won't do anything for
this, it just pops off the seal when you pull the slider weight on the
puller.

Anyone have some shadetree tips to remove the seal?
