Cutting and replaceing a section was necessary on my 63' vert. in right lower qtr. panel area. Plasma cutter to remove...fabricate replacement....weld in...grind out. did not replace reinforcement . worked beautifully.

Filled rust holes (after grinding all rust...use drill bit to get all of it) with weld and grind. Much more time consuming and requires a talented welder, but beats using all that plastic filler ! My welder ran on Bud and Jack and promises of rides in the back seat come summer ! What a deal!

I just recently saw a repair like that, that was done a on a 69 Charger
fender
A new lower fender brace was pounded out of sheet metal with a hammer on
a sand bag, and it looked just like the original.
The rusty fender area was cut out and a repair panel welded.
Then the brace was welded in place.
It looked original, when finished.

The book is reprinted and I have a insert with the 383 400 stuff done as well.. It will be in all books
The 63 Dodge is resting in the garage. I plan to repaint if all goes well and fix a problem area that has cropped up on the left lower front fender. Considering just cutting it of and welging a repair panel in place. Anyone done this and what about the bracing behind it?
