Re: fuel sending units. 65 B-body

David Freiberger noted on an episode of Roadkill Garage that I watched that the internal passage on a replacement mechanical fuel pump is the same @ 1/4" size no matter what size the line fitting is.  I like watching this show as well as Engine Masters as Freiberger and Steve Dulcich are Mopar guys.  It's a nice change from the constant stream of GM stuff and LS motor swaps.
Speaking of which, my son acquired a 1967 4 door Fury low mileage car that also came with a 1959 Dodge to sweeten the deal. The 67 was a runner and just needed a little brake work and a water pump to make it a driver.  it's a 318 poly 2 bbl. auto.  Really decent shape for an Iowa car, almost no rust.  Now for the bad news.  While he was in college he made friends with a Chevy guy.  He recently swapped him a dually pickup for an early 90's Pontiac that he's using for his commuter car and an LS motor. A couple weeks ago he told he's planning to put that LS into the Fury, turbocharge it and make it a drag car.  I told him " thought I raised you better than that."  No amount of cajoling could change his mind.  Hoping he'll just get tired of the idea.

I want to drop the tank and see how she looks inside and I thought maybe I should get
a new fuel sending unit. They aren't that much but I am running into two different size
types. One says 5/16 and the other is 3/8. I imagine that is either the size of the metal tube or the size of rubber fuel line needed.  Were the 5/16 for 6 cylinders?  What were the 3/8 applications?
