It looks like the heavy duty three speed in the max wadges were 
Borg-Warner T-85s.

Looks a lot like a T-10 four speed, without the reverse gear in the 
tailhousing.

Next question I have is the front shaft of the T-85 the same for all 
applications?

The T-85 I have in captivity has a front shaft that measures 7 1/8" from 
the case to the tip of the
pilot shaft.  The spline has a 10 count. The pilot shaft is 5/8" in diamter.

Any enlighting would be appreciated
