I use bronze wool, much softer than even 0000 steel wool. It's kind of hard
to find, and somewhat expensive. Do-It- Best Hardware stores are supposed to
carry it also try marine supply stores or do a google search and get it
online.
 Me and my dad have been fixing and restoring old Schwinn bicycles for 25+
yrs. and have found that steel wool will scratch and leave small particles
behind only to rust again.
 Have also had decent results with fine polishing compound and soft rags
Currently stripping paint off 1965 Coronet Wagon getting ready for paint.
