I believe if you change the whole diff. assembly including the bearings and cups from the '41 case to the '42 case,it will work. That's what I have been topd over the years.

Folks,
I have a question on a 8 3/4 rear end. I have a '741' 8 3/4 rear end with
sure grip. I'd like to replace the 741 with a 742 because I'm hooking it up
to a 440. Can I take the sure grip out of the 741 and put it into an
originally open 742 carrier?
Thanks for your help,
Bill B.
